Black Balsam Knob Engagement Session

Black Balsam Knob Engagement Session

Paige + Sage / Black Balsam Knob Engagement Session / April 2018

This was such a special day for a Black Balsam Knob engagement session. It was my first time up there after the parkway reopened after winter. It’s always like driving straight into a dream world as I weave my way up the parkway. Paige and Sage chose Black Balsam Knob for their engagement session because it is truly such a breathtaking location. From the pine forest to the insane views, the blue sky to the way the sunlight rolls over the mountaintop, it’s truly a delightful experience just to bask in the beauty of these mountains.

Black Balsam Knob has become a very popular spot over the years and understandably so. However, on this day we had the trail mostly to ourselves and that felt like magic! If you are planning to elope or have an engagement session in Western North Carolina in the fall you can almost guarantee that this trail will be very crowded! Folks are very courteous of couples and their photographer, however, I find it very nice to have a secluded spot for elopements and engagement sessions. There have been times at Black Balsam Knob where I have seen 4-5 other photographers and their couples!

Find yourself a photographer (ME!) who will help you choose a more secluded and equally beautiful location. If you’ve never been to Black Balsam Knob, it really is a must-see location in Western North Carolina! Pack a picnic and head up the parkway! I also suggest stopping to see the waterfalls at Graveyard Fields which is located just below Black Balsam Knob off the Blue Ridge Parkway! I feel completely grateful to have this beautiful nature in my backyard.

Enjoy a peak into this adventure!
